Australian counter-drone technology has been sighted on the Senator counter-unmanned aerial system vehicle recently unveiled by defence manufacturers Leonardo and Roshel.
The Senator system was revealed at Canada’s global defence and security trade show, CANSEC 2025, in May this year.
The complete system was developed on Roshel’s Senator mine-resistant ambush protected vehicle platform and integrates Leonardo’s Falcon Shield counter-UAS technology.
However, the vehicle also features a DroneSentry-X Mk2 system manufactured by Sydney defence company DroneShield.
“We are proud to play a supporting role in enhancing layered defence solutions,” a statement from DroneShield said online.
Designed and built entirely in Canada, the Senator Counter-UAS is expected to be used for rapid deployment across a range of defence and security scenarios.
In particular, it has been highlighted as a candidate for static and convoy protection missions.
“This collaboration combines Roshel’s expertise in survivable tactical vehicles with Leonardo’s leadership in electronic warfare and air defence technologies,” said a statement from Roshel.
“The result is a robust, NATO-compatible solution that meets the needs of Canadian and allied forces operating in contested and dynamic environments.
“Roshel’s unveiling at CANSEC 2025 underscores its continued commitment to advancing Canada’s defence industrial base and delivering operational capabilities aligned with national and allied mission priorities.”
