Defence manufacturers Ares Armaments Australia and ZU Bladeworx Australia have announced a partnership on specialist equipment for domestic defence and law enforcement agencies.

ZU Bladeworx Australia has previously supplied the H2HFW Nomad Mk4 fighting knife for the Australian Defence Force.

“Together, Ares chief executive officer Jason Murray and Zu Bladeworx chief executive officer Matt Lucarnus are working on something special for our defence and law enforcement clients, with a shared commitment to creating innovative, precision-engineered, Australian-manufactured products, purpose-built to meet the demands of those on the front line,” said an official statement from Ares Armaments Australia.

“This partnership is a great example of two innovative Australian manufacturers working together to strengthen capability and deliver towards Australia’s sovereign capabilities and security.

“Zu Bladeworx are renowned for their craftsmanship, producing blades that are tough, reliable and sharp. As a sovereign Australian supplier, their commitment to quality mirrors our own and this collaboration is set to deliver a product like no other.”

Earlier this year at Avalon Airshow 2025 in April, Ares Armaments Australia announced an agreement with Aimpoint to drive workforce solutions for defence manufacturing in South Australia.

The two South Australian veteran-owned businesses were announced to collaborate on a wide range of projects to support the Australian government’s commitment to prioritising the domestic manufacture of guided weapons, explosive ordnance and munitions.

Under that partnership, the companies pledged to establish a Certificate IV in Explosive Ordnance Manufacture, develop an apprenticeship program, implement recruitment strategies, partner with industry to enhance skill development and coordinate access to facilities for training purposes.
