Melbourne-based laser and optical instruments developer MOG Laboratories will be acquired by international photonics company Santec Corporation under a newly announced agreement.
The acquisition of MOGLabs, a 2007 university spin-off from the University of Melbourne, is scheduled to be finalised on 1 July this year.
Under the agreement, both companies will push for the development of quantum optics and precision measurements.
“We warmly welcome the MOGLabs team into the Santec Group and look forward to shaping the future of photonics together,” Santec Group said in a public statement.
“MOGLabs has earned a global reputation for its advanced photonics tools used in quantum computing and quantum communication, atomic physics and cutting-edge scientific applications.
“The company’s flagship products include tunable Cateye and Littrow lasers, laser controllers, wavelength-stabilised diode lasers and high-resolution measurement systems that are trusted by research institutions around the world.
“By joining forces, Santec and MOGLabs will leverage their complementary technologies and expertise to accelerate innovation and expand their global reach in the rapidly growing field of quantum optics and precision measurement.
“This strategic move enhances Santec’s vision of delivering world-class photonics solutions across telecom, datacom, life sciences and now quantum technologies.”
