The Ukrainian government is stepping up direct cooperation with international defence companies, including efforts to foster greater interaction with Australian industry.

Brave1, a Ukrainian government platform, recently invited a delegation of German defence and technology companies to discuss the potential for collaboration within Ukraine’s defence innovation ecosystem.

The companies, from the Bundesverband der Deutschen Industrie, were supported by the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

“Building mutually beneficial partnerships with technology companies from allied nations is one of our top priorities,” Brave1 chief executive officer Andriy Hrytseniuk said.

“This approach allows the Ukrainian military to access breakthrough technologies while enabling international manufacturers to develop cutting edge products that meet real battlefield needs.”

Testing defence industry technology in Ukraine and partnering with the Ukrainian defence ecosystem can better shape future products, test hypotheses in combat systems and provide faster, actionable feedback from direct cooperation with combat units.

Ukrainian ambassador to Australia and New Zealand Vasyl Myroshnychenko, speaking after a recent meeting with Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, said personnel are available to assist respective defence companies in collaborating.

“I was pleased to have the opportunity to brief the Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umerov on our ongoing defence and security cooperation with Australia and New Zealand,” he said.

“He shared valuable guidance on Ukraine’s key priorities for military assistance, as well as insights into advancing cooperation in the defence industry.

“Military assistance and defence cooperation remain top priorities for any Ukrainian ambassador at this critical time.

“Ukraine will undoubtedly prevail; but it requires our continued focus, determination and perseverance.”

The Defense Procurement Agency MOD of Ukraine has recently announced that 10 Ukrainian Armed Forces brigades will participate in a (One billion UAH) pilot program for the purchase of first-person-view drones through a DOT-Chain Defence marketplace.

More than 80 drone manufacturers have submitted their commercial proposals to participate in DOT-Chain Defence, offering over 400 types of unmanned aerial vehicles.

“DOT-Chain Defence is a fundamentally new approach to equipping the army. We are creating a system where each unit independently selects the weapons it needs, and deliveries take weeks instead of months,” Defence Minister Umerov said.

“It is a transparent and digital model that makes military logistics flexible, fast and modern. We are building an ecosystem in which the government, manufacturers and the military work as a single team for the sake of victory.”
