Aurizn has announced the appointment of defence and national security executive Rebecca Humble as its new chief executive officer, effective at the end of this month.
Humble joins the Australian-owned company from her role as chief of strategy officer at QinetiQ Australia. She has held senior positions at BAE Systems and Nova Systems and has extensive governance experience through board roles with the Defence Teaming Centre, University of Adelaide Defence, Space and Cyber Advisory Board, and as a non-executive director at Praetorian Aeronautics.
Aurizn chairman Andrew Tymms said Humble’s appointment marked an important step for the company. “Rebecca brings more than 25 years of strategic, commercial and leadership experience in the defence industry, both in Australia and internationally, including the UK, Europe and the US,” he said.
“Aurizn is focused on engineering, operationalising and sustaining critical defence capabilities. Our ambition is to become Australia’s leading mid-tier defence company, delivering advanced capability to the warfighter domestically and through allied partnerships. Backed by Pemba Capital Partners, we continue to invest in cutting-edge products, synthetic and digital solutions and workforce capability.”
Tymms said Humble’s deep industry insight and proven record in driving growth made her “ideally suited to lead Aurizn as we expand our investment and better serve our defence customers’ needs”.
Humble said she is “thrilled to be joining Aurizn at such a critical time.” She highlighted the importance of the Australian defence industry in delivering capability outcomes faster and more efficiently. “I am fortunate to have a career that spans Australia and international markets, giving me insight into the defence sector and the evolving needs of our forces,” she said.
“I look forward to working with the talented team at Aurizn to strengthen our contribution to national security and support the development of a world-class sovereign industrial base.”
Aurizn focuses on delivering operationally critical capabilities to the warfighter, investing in advanced products and synthetic and digital solutions, and supporting Australian and allied forces to achieve mission success.
