Mixed reality simulator developer BlueRoom Simulations has secured funding through the Victorian government’s Supply Chain Uplift Program.
The program funding is designed to help local manufacturers scale their capabilities and compete for contracts within Australia’s defence industry.
The program, announced by Minister for Industry and Advanced Manufacturing Colin Brooks on 11 August this year, awarded more than $800,000 in matched funding to 11 innovative Victorian businesses, including BlueRoom.
“We’ve set out a vision for Victoria to be a defence and aerospace powerhouse; and we’re backing our industry to grow and thrive,” Minister Brooks said.
“The Supply Chain Uplift Program gives Victorian manufacturers the best shot at winning substantial defence contracts, helping to create jobs and boost the economy.”
The funding reportedly had an immediate impact on BlueRoom’s development capacity, enabling it to upgrade systems, advance product development and expand research into new simulation solutions.
As part of this project, BlueRoom already digitally rendered the Hanwha Redback infantry fighting vehicle. The high-fidelity model serves as a testing base to validate and expand its mixed reality simulator.
By integrating the Redback into its suite of simulation environments, BlueRoom is reportedly positioning to support upcoming LAND 400 Phase 3 programs as well as a wide range of operational training needs across the Australian Defence Force.
Other successful companies that secured funding are EnyGy, Lunar Outpost, R&I Instrument & Gear Co, Ribcraft Marine, Ronson Gears, Skills Leap Australia, Stahl Metall, Total Precision, TRJ Engineering and Vokke.
More than $800,000 has been awarded to 11 businesses to help them compete for contracts as part of the supply chain for Hanwha Defence Australia and other major defence businesses.
Matched grants of up to $100,000 will support manufacturers to undertake projects, including systems or facility upgrades, obtaining necessary industry accreditations, and further research and product development programs.
