Defence Estate contracts have been announced with companies Mott MacDonald, The APP Group and Aurecon securing a slice of the work.
The new contracts are designed to flex with Australia’s changing strategic environment, adapting to changes in the estate, evolving operational contexts, and surging to support military exercises and responding to government priorities.
Mott MacDonald will oversee and project manage the delivery of approved construction, maintenance and consultancy projects through the Estate Works Program.
“The new base services contracts is a generational opportunity to upskill Australian industry and communities, and we’re committed to creating lasting local impact by supporting jobs, businesses and community development,” Mott MacDonald managing director for Australia Frances Badelow said.
“We’re looking forward to working as part of Defence’s team of teams, bringing our collaborative, innovative and technically excellent approach to build a capable, diverse and resilient supply chain that supports Defence’s base services and strengthens communities across Australia.
“Our purpose is to use our expertise for the benefit of our clients and the communities they serve. Australia’s communities can only thrive if they are stable, secure and safe. Defence plays a vital role in enabling these conditions, making it not just aligned with our purpose, but a critical enabler of it.”
The APP Group will, under a multi-year project delivery services contract, provide comprehensive program and project management services across the Defence estate, including training and operational areas, industrial sites, plant rooms, workshops, healthcare facilities, laboratories, office spaces, sports facilities, and civil and in-ground infrastructure.
“For over 36 years, The APP Group has proudly partnered with the Department of Defence. We are excited to expand that relationship by supporting the transformative Base Services program,” The APP Group defence and security chief executive Mat Bradley said.
“Defence estates are incredibly diverse and complex, our role is to provide innovative, industry-leading solutions that ensure infrastructure remains robust, adaptive and mission-ready.”
Aurecon provides project management services for construction, maintenance and consultancy projects across the Defence Estate under a six-year new project delivery services contract.
“It is a crucial time for Defence, for Australia and for industry, and we are deeply committed to working alongside Defence to develop and manage its estate for the term of this contract,” said Damon Howes, Aurecon industry director, defence and national security.
“We are ready to step forward with a highly experienced, motivated and dedicated team who live and breathe the Defence mission, bringing genuine enthusiasm for collaboration and shared success as we navigate capital investment and capitalise on innovation, modern technology, digitalisation and workforce capability opportunities.
“This contract is about more than infrastructure, it is about strengthening the foundations of Defence capability today and for the future.
“We are excited to be part of this transformational journey that supports Defence readiness and creates broad social and economic benefits.”
