Drone manufacturer and aerial data intelligence company Quantum Systems has announced its expansion into the United Kingdom with the establishment of Quantum-Systems Ltd.

Drone manufacturer and aerial data intelligence company Quantum Systems has announced its expansion into the United Kingdom with the establishment of Quantum-Systems Ltd.

The UK expansion follows the company’s acquisition of Nordic Unmanned UK and announced plans to invest more than £50 million over the next five years in local competencies, capacities and value chains.

In addition, former Royal Marines officer Vito Tomasi has been appointed as managing director UK to drive Quantum Systems’ UK growth.

Tomasi began his career in the Royal Marines, with operational deployments worldwide including Afghanistan, before moving into finance with Goldman Sachs and later innovation investment at Speedinvest.

“Quantum Systems is here to stay and deepen our investment in the UK,” Tomasi said.

“By investing in British talent, infrastructure and partnerships, and by delivering our proven, battlefield-ready aerial intelligence systems, we will contribute to the UK’s defence priorities and even exceed expectations.”

The expansion directly supports the UK Ministry of Defence’s call for greater autonomy and uncrewed systems under its 20-40-40 strategy; a force mix of 20 per cent crewed platforms controlling 40 per cent reusable platforms such as drones and 40 per cent consumable systems such as rockets, missiles and one-way effectors.

“Our mission is clear. The UK is investing in autonomy, resilience and next-generation unmanned intelligence,” Quantum Systems CRO Martin Karkour said.

“With our UK hub, our acquisition of Nordic Unmanned UK, and the leadership of Vito Tomasi, Quantum Systems is committed to being the trusted partner delivering these capabilities for Britain’s defence and security.”

Quantum Systems’ plan includes infrastructure, local engineering and partnerships with UK providers. The company will establish service, support, training and logistics centre capabilities on demand, based on its model of localisation in Ukraine.

It will invest in maintenance and repair operations and build training and test infrastructure, creating jobs and strengthening sovereign capability.
