A grenade launcher-wielding quadruped robotic weapon system, CODiAQ, has been unveiled by Brisbane smart robotics company Skyborne Technologies.
The controller-operated direct-action quadruped, also known as CODiAQ, is envisioned to bring lethal capability to quadruped platforms using the company’s modular weapon payloads and AI-assisted targeting software.
The system is designed to deliver accurate remote direct fire and ballistic breaching by integrating advanced artificial intelligence target recognition with Skyborne’s HAVOC 40mm and CHAOS 12GA modular payloads.
The system is operated by a single user via a handheld remote controller while the quadruped operates autonomously, allowing the operator to stay focused on mission objectives. A targeting electronics optical box provides onboard computing for day and night operations, enabling precision strikes and extended stand-off. The system can navigate rugged terrain, wooded areas and urban environments including staircases.

This marks a significant leap in autonomous ground systems for irregular warfare,” according to a public statement from the company.
“Skyborne Technologies is committed to delivering lightweight, low-cost per-shot solutions that enhance soldier lethality and operational flexibility.
“CODiAQ is currently being rolled out to US government partners for deployment across a wide range of mission environments.”
Skyborne has confirmed that the system can be deployed within minutes and is capable of rapidly engaging multiple targets with precision. Other lightweight quadruped systems have previously been deployed via aerial insertion with unmanned aerial vehicles.
CODiAQ’s rapid research, development, test and evaluation is funded by the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Special Operations and Low-Intensity Conflict, under the SSO Irregular Warfare Capabilities Development and Innovation Directorate.
