Australian defence company Electro Optic Systems has secured a new $20 million order for its Slinger counter-drone remote weapon systems for a western European NATO country customer.
The systems are reportedly intended to address urgent operational requirements and delivery is expected to occur within the next six months.
Most of the incremental revenue from this order is expected to arise during 2026. The order includes remote weapon systems (RWS), spare parts, training and other items.
“In recent months the drone threat to western European countries has been increasing. This order demonstrates that EOS’ flagship Slinger counter-drone RWS is a product of choice for kinetic counter-drone weapon systems,” according to the ASX statement released by EOS managing director and chief executive officer Dr Andreas Schwer.
Electro Optic Systems was previously announced to have secured a contract to supply remote weapon systems for the Australian Defence Force’s LAND 400 Phase 3 Infantry Fighting Vehicle program.
The multi-year contract, valued at $108 million, was awarded by Hanwha Defence Australia, the prime contractor to the ADF on LAND 400-3 in October this year. The order includes the delivery of remote weapon systems, spare parts, training and documentation.
Under the agreement, EOS will deliver an enhanced R400 RWS, purpose-built to meet the Australian Army’s operational requirements and fully integrated with the AS21 Redback infantry fighting vehicle.
Manufacturing of the RWS will be undertaken at EOS’ facility in Canberra. RWS have already undertaken operational service with militaries in Australia, North America, Europe, the Middle East and south-east Asia, with more than 2,500 systems sold globally, of which more than 700 have been delivered or are contracted for delivery to the Australian Army.
