Australian defence company Electro Optic Systems has announced an industrial partnership with German defence company Diehl Defence.

Australian defence company Electro Optic Systems has announced an industrial partnership with German defence company Diehl Defence.

The partnership, Arbeitsgemeinschaft (ARGE), is envisioned help to deliver advanced remote weapon systems (RWS) for the German Armed Forces.

Electro Optic Systems chief executive officer Dr Andreas Schwer confirmed that the company would align its own remote weapon systems technology with German manufacturing capability and program delivery experience.

“Our shared commitment is to deliver reliable, scalable and combat-proven RWS capability for the German Armed Forces,” Schwer said.

“The ARGE allows both companies to apply their strengths in a coordinated and effective way to support this modernisation program with technology that is mature and ready for operational use."

The partnership reinforces a shared commitment to providing dependable and effective capability for future modernisation efforts, as the LeWaStat initiative, he said.

Earlier this week, EOS also announced it has entered into an agreement to acquire the UK-based interceptor business from MARSS Group for a total initial investment of approximately $10 million.

The acquisition of complementary counter-drone capability is expected to bring promising growth with a future counter-drone product mix. The acquisition is expected to be integrated into EOS’ product portfolio for sale to existing and new customers.

The acquisition is expected with 12 to 24 months of further development before full commercial launch. There will be further EOS investment of up to $10 million over the next three years, with potential for customer development funding.
