Advanced Navigation and Kongsberg have signed a multimillion-dollar deal that will see the integration of navigation and remote weapons systems.

Advanced Navigation and Kongsberg have signed a multimillion-dollar deal that will see the integration of navigation and remote weapons systems.

The deal will see Advanced Navigations’ Boreas D90 fibre-optic gyroscope inertial navigation systems being used to strengthen Kongsberg’s Protector RS4 remote weapons system in contested environments.

“This collaboration marks the next frontier in precision warfare, reflecting global defence’s growing trust in Advanced Navigation’s technology. Our Boreas systems are proven, battle-tested and built for the realities of modern conflict,” said Chris Shaw, CEO and co-founder of Advanced Navigation.

“By integrating our sovereign, strategic-grade positioning into Kongsberg’s renowned Protector RS4, we’re enabling a new era of sensor and precision autonomy, fortifying platforms against the escalating threat of electronic warfare.

Advanced Navigation continues to be a deeply embedded technology partner within Kongsberg’s global supply chain and a key contributor to a more resilient, future-ready defence posture.”

The Boreas D90 has strong precision in high-threat conditions and is boosted by the effective and vertically integrated manufacturing process by Advanced Navigation.

Kongsberg’s RS4 is a flexible, modular system that has the capacity to integrate a range of payloads, such as calibre systems and guided effectors. It is suitable for land and sea applications.

The integration from this deal will see new levels of precise accuracy and survivability through enhancing the position of the system within in battle operations.

The deal is also a display of support for the Global Supply Chain Program, an initiative created by the Australian Department of Defence to connect smaller, local supplies with major defence companies worldwide.

“Kongsberg is committed to building a resilient and collaborative global defence ecosystem built on deep, long-term partnerships, not simple transactions,” said Martin Rold Hansen, Kongsberg’s market and sales director.

Shaw added that the partnership is a reflection of the commitment of defence companies responding to the changing nature of warfare and defence, emphasising the need for multinational collaboration within the industry.

“This partnership is that philosophy in practice. Enabled by frameworks like the GSC Program, Kongsberg and Advanced Navigation are demonstrating a new standard for allied collaboration – integrating best-in-breed technologies to create a more resilient combined force,” he said.
