BluGlass, a leading global supplier of GaN laser diode products, has continued its board refreshment, with the appointment of a new executive director, Jim Haden.

Also joining the board of directors, Haden brings a wealth of experience and knowledge of BluGlass, being president in 2021 and transitioning to CEO in 2023.

This recent leadership move comes as BluGlass continues to develop the company and continues its successful ventures, such as the acquisition and integration of a laser production facility in Silicon Valley and consistent work with a range of companies, ministries and governments in strategic partnerships.

“I’m honoured to join BluGlass’ refreshed and dynamic board at this pivotal stage in our commercialisation journey. Leadership’s fresh approach to market execution and capital strategy positions us to leverage our strong project pipeline, collectively valued at over US$100 million,” Haden said.

“We are in advanced negotiations with several major industry players and these projects are expected to deliver significant revenue contracts, strengthen our industry reputation, and further enhance our technical capabilities.

“Alongside our proven go-to market strategy, the board is actively exploring broader opportunities to accelerate growth by leveraging our US manufacturing capabilities and innovative product portfolio.”

Haden’s previous experience within the business has led to successful partnerships with the US Department of War and Indian Ministry of Defence, among other collaborators.

BluGlass’ executive chair, Omer Granit, said the appointment comes at a critical time for the business, noting that commercial and growth challenges persist, despite proven success.

“BluGlass is currently at a critical crossroads, with demonstrated technical progress executed at a pace that stands out in the global GaN laser sector; however, it also has some significant growth and commercialisation hurdles to overcome to ensure it is positioned to capture tactical markets across the global defence, aerospace, quantum and biotech sectors,” he said.

“Jim’s appointment expands his remit, further supporting the turnaround from an underfunded innovator to a global leader as we continue to build our US laser fab capability, accelerate product development, and secure strategic defence and quantum opportunities that validate both our technology and our strategy.”

Haden replaces non-executive director Jean-Michel Pelaprat in the role, with Granit thanking Pelaprat for his contributions.

“On behalf of the board, I thank Jean-Michel for his longstanding, valuable contribution and guidance as the company completed its pivot to a pure-play GaN laser leader. We wish Jean-Michel all the best for his future endeavours.”
