Greenroom Robotics and EGS Survey have signed a fleet-wide partnership agreement that seeks to equip future Fremantle Class uncrewed surface vessels with the Greenroom Advanced Maritime Autonomy (GAMA) system.

The partnership will see Greenroom Robotics supply GAMA licences and support across the Fremantle Class fleet, with EGS Survey using Greenroom Robotics as its primary supplier of autonomous control and navigation software.

“Our mission at Greenroom is to help deliver safe, clean and protected oceans. Autonomous vessels are a practical way to reduce emissions, minimise marine disturbance and expand access to high-quality seabed data. Working with EGS allows us to scale that mission across an entire fleet built here in Western Australia,” Greenroom Robotics co-founder and chief operations officer Harry Hubbert said.

Announced during West Tech Fest, Greenroom said the new partnership highlights Australia’s rising influence in reducing maritime emissions through advanced autonomy. The company was recently named Western Australia’s Innovator of the Year for its GAMA software.

The agreement builds on the success of uncrewed surface vessels (USV) Fremantle 1 mission operated with EGS, which recently completed a HydroScheme Industry Partnership Program survey to demonstrate how autonomous systems can yield high-quality data while reducing emissions.

The mission achieved a 94 per cent cut in diesel use and delivered operating costs up to 75 per cent lower than traditional crewed missions.

Charles Collins, chief surveyor at EGS Survey Australia, said the partnership will help meet demand for high-quality data, saying, “Our goal with the Fremantle Class USVs is to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality survey outcomes for our clients.

“Greenroom’s GAMA system has been central to achieving that vision. This partnership ensures every future vessel benefits from a deeply integrated and continuously improving autonomy solution built here in Western Australia.”
