Australian defence company and engineering system provider Luminact has been appointed to integrate advanced command, control, communications, computers and digital systems into the New Zealand Defence Force’s fleet of Bushmaster protected vehicles.
The appointment was confirmed and signed via contract with the New Zealand Ministry of Defence earlier this month, on 12 December. Design is underway in partnership with the Ministry of Defence and the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF), with delivery scheduled from 2028.
The Bushmaster vehicles will be enabled with communication and situational awareness capabilities to enhance their operational effectiveness, providing a credible combat capability for the NZDF.
Luminact will partner with the ministry’s Network Enabled Army Programme to design, develop and integrate a solution, which will see the vehicles interoperable with partner nations, including Australia.
“With this partnership, Luminact is proving its ability to provide vendor and platform agnostic system integration solutions and deliver next-level integration and interoperability for our customers,” said Luminact co-founder and director Andrew Skinner.
“This means that other user nations of key operational capabilities have a real choice and can engage with us to flexibly design bespoke and value-for-money solutions fit for their operational needs.”
Luminact, as the prime system integrator, will lead the development of a C4 Solution, including engineering, design, verification and testing, training, integrated logistic support, equipment and component procurement, integration and support.
Luminact will leverage its depth of in-house experts with extensive experience delivering capability outcomes in the Land C4 domain across multiple platforms and products.
“This is a big step in a longstanding relationship between Luminact and New Zealand. The value will be in bringing together very talented and experienced people in both teams,” said Luminact director Joshua Stewart.
“Together, we will develop a solution [that] will deliver the best capability for NZDF troops and lead the way in the C4 domain when deployed.”
