Lockheed Martin Australia and New Zealand has appointed a new chief executive, Jeremy King, former head of Joint Aviation Systems for Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group, ahead of the transition of outgoing CEO Warren McDonald.

Succeeding Warren “Macca” McDonald, King will officially assume the position in February, following a formal transition period.

In 2023, King was appointed Head of Joint Aviation Systems for Defence Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group (CASG), and in 2022 acquired the role of Director General Army Aviation Systems Branch in CASG.

Last week, King was still active in his role in Joint Aviation Systems, co-chairing the Australia–France bilateral armaments committee.

“I am eager to leverage my extensive program leadership experience and commitment to customer success in leading Lockheed Martin’s efforts in Australia and New Zealand,” King said.

“I look forward to strengthening our partnerships and delivering the advanced solutions our customers rely on.

“My focus will be on working closely with our customers, industry partners and stakeholders to ensure we deliver, sustain and evolve the capabilities required to navigate the region’s evolving security landscape.”

He has had extensive experience in the Australian Army in a range of high-ranking leadership positions throughout global missions and is a fellow at the Institute of Engineers Australia and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

King will report to Jay Pitman, president of Lockheed Martin International, who said this new appointment will strengthen Lockheed’s presence and growth in Australia and New Zealand.

“Jeremy’s exceptional depth of experience in large-scale defence acquisitions, combined with his longstanding commitment to customer-centric leadership, make him the ideal candidate to drive Lockheed Martin’s growth in Australia and New Zealand,” Pitman said.

“His operational background – from command of the 7th Combat Service Support Battalion to managing the acquisition and sustainment of helicopters and tactical uncrewed aerial systems – gives him a unique perspective on the complex security challenges our customers face.

“I am confident that Jeremy will continue to strengthen our partnerships and deliver the world-class solutions that underpin our customers’ success.”

This announcement follows the recent appointment of Steve “Zed” Roberton as the new president for Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific of Boeing, following his brief time replacing MacDonald for just six weeks in 2024.
