DroneShield has been selected to join the Counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems Services Standing Offer Panel as part of the Department of Defence’s Project LAND 156’s Line of Effort 3.

Selection onto the panel is set to promote a more pragmatic, expert-based means of acquisition as a part of Australia’s continued domestic effort to acquire Counter-small Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-sUAS) solutions in its defensive strategy.

As a “pioneer” company in the counter-drone sector and the only specialist in companies selected for the panel, DroneShield said their selection as Category 2 C-sUAS provider will allow Defence to “procure hardware, software, command-and-control software” at a range of levels from the company.

“We welcome the opportunity to support Defence through this panel arrangement and stand ready to deliver battle-proven, software-defined C-sUAS solutions,” said Oleg Vornik, chief executive of DroneShield.

While selection onto the panel does not guarantee contracts for Project LAND 156, it places DroneShield in a position to demonstrate to the Department of Defence their capabilities and suitability to be a contracted supplier in the future.

The Australian government has pledged to spend upwards of $1 billion over the next decade to acquire counter-drone capabilities.

“The growing threat from small drones demands practical, tested solutions to safeguard Defence bases and critical assets,” said DroneShield’s vice president of strategy, Air Commodore (Ret’d) Terry Van Haren DSM.

“We encourage government and Defence stakeholders to take advantage of this panel arrangement to experience DroneShield’s proven capabilities in domestic security.”

Project LAND 156 is the Australian Defence Force’s program that seeks to acquire and establish C-UAS capabilities to address the changing nature of warfare and increased threat of drones.

DroneShield was selected alongside 22 additional industry partners for the panel.
