Australian Defence Apparel has announced that it has been awarded a major contract with the NSW Police Force to supply new ballistic carrier vests.
The largest police force in Australia will receive new gear, with Australian Defence Apparel (ADA) now set to provide their ENFORCR H.A.L.O. X carriers to meet the “stringent operational, safety and durability requirements” the NSW police force must adhere to.
The carriers have a unique design that make them optimal for on-duty officers, with features such as built-in climate regulating technology, Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment (MOLLE) system, and flame and debris resistant durability.
“By pushing the boundaries of what is possible in product design, the H.A.L.O. X advances the discipline and sets a higher standard for the global military and law enforcement industry,” said Christopher Luong, lead tactical designer at ADA.
Designed in collaboration with the NSW Police Force, ADA’s ergonomic, industry and academic approach to design is set to ensure the vests have been crafted with the specific focus on being a valuable addition to police officers’ kits, with “operational insight” and “manufacturing expertise” driving the production.
“When industry, academia and end users come together, the result is faster iteration, better ergonomics and solutions that perform in real-world conditions,” said ADA CEO Chris Dixon.
“Collaboration shortens the path from prototype to deployment and ensures life-critical equipment like ballistic carriers deliver measurable gains in comfort, protection and operational effectiveness.”
In October last year, the carrier won the Australian Good Design Awards, with voter comments emphasising the versatility and practicality of the designs, saying, “Clever modularity and laser cutting to achieve a greater level of functionality. Good to see that it offers customisable inserts for different body types … a brilliant showcase of innovation and design impact.”
