Australian counter-drone developer Electro Optic Systems has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Turkish weapons manufacturer Roketsan.

Australian counter-drone developer Electro Optic Systems has signed a strategic partnership agreement with Turkish weapons manufacturer Roketsan.

Under the agreement, signed at World Defense Show on 10 February, both companies plan to collaborate on future opportunities involving integrated defence capabilities in selected markets.

EOS has also reportedly entered into a conditional high-energy laser contract with a customer in the Republic of Korea.

“EOS has seen growing international demand for high-energy laser capability, and this agreement reflects how we are positioning to respond to that demand,” according to EOS chief executive officer Dr Andreas Schwer.

“Working with Roketsan gives us a practical pathway to engage on opportunities where integration and local industrial participation are important.”

The agreement supports collaboration in selected markets jointly identified by both companies, positioning EOS and Roketsan to pursue opportunities where integrated counter-drone and force protection solutions are required.

“Our collaboration with EOS is a key factor in enhancing our combat-proven directed energy solutions for national and international users by providing operational effectiveness and mission success,” according to Roketsan chief executive officer Murat İkinci.

Earlier this week, EOS requested a trading halt to ensure that trading did not take place in an uninformed or false market (6 February).

The halt was requested in relation to allegedly “misleading, manipulatory and pejorative conclusions contained in the Grizzly Report. The Grizzly Report was published by prolific short seller, Grizzly, without any prior enquiry of EOS”.

“EOS is concerned that Grizzly may have acted unlawfully and breached corporations laws in Australia and Germany (where EOS trades on the Frankfurt Open Market). EOS has directed legal advisers in Australia and Germany to consider all available legal remedies,” the company said.
