NSW software company Vection Technologies has secured a $2.2 million defence contract from a repeat military customer within the European defence ecosystem for its FEDRA edge data appliance.
The artificial intelligence-enabled digital transformation platform specialist announced that the contract is the first full deployment order for the company’s Far Edge Data Retention Appliance (FEDRA) and was issued under an existing $22.3 million multi-year framework agreement, representing the next phase of the company’s defence program.
FEDRA is a defence-grade, edge-optimised data platform engineered to support data-intensive military missions. It is designed to deliver AI-driven data retention and correlation at the tactical edge, rapid back-up and restore performance critical in contested communications environments as well as enhanced real-time intelligence support for distributed multi-agent systems.
The appliance is designed to meet the demanding performance and security standards required for deployed military missions, especially where traditional infrastructure is unavailable or compromised.
“This order represents an important strategic step for Vection in the defence sector,” Vection Technologies managing director Gianmarco Biagi said.
“FEDRA is the evolutions of our proprietary edge data appliance to be deployed within an active military program, expanding our role from systems integration to ownership of defence technologies.
“The combination of FEDRA with our Algho AI intelligence capabilities enables a new class of AI-driven data retention and correlation at the tactical edge.
“This order builds on our proven delivery capability and our ongoing investments in technology deployment, further strengthening Vection’s position as a trusted long-term partner for mission-critical Defence operations.”
This order is considered to be a significant milestone in Vection’s defence capability roadmap, marking a transition from systems integration to ownership and deployment of sovereign-grade defence technologies as well as strengthened trust and operational collaboration with allied military partners.
The expansion of a delivery pipeline has already seen $27.7 million of defence orders secured and $13.6 million delivered to date under the existing framework agreement.
These deployments increase the visibility and reliability of edge data operations in theatre while enabling commanders to make data-informed decisions faster and with greater confidence.
