Australian defence company Electro Optic Systems has announced its first defence industry sale to India and an additional contract for a Middle Eastern customer.
EOS announced a $17 million contract for R400 remote weapon systems with 30mm cannons for an established government customer of a Middle Eastern Gulf Cooperation Council country 2 on March.
The contract is intended to strengthen defence systems in light of escalating regional tensions and conflicts, with systems and related support expected to be delivered this year and in 2027.
In addition, the company announced the order for a naval R800 remote weapon system to a large established prime contractor in India. The order includes a remote weapon system, platform/weapon integration services and demo/trial support valued between $1 million and $2 million.
“This sale is EOS’ first sale to the defence industry in India and continues EOS’ strategy of working with national defence champions where appropriate,” according to an ASX statement published by EOS.
“In addition, this sale represents the second sale of the EOS new heavy-calibre R800 system to a customer for evaluation.
“EOS is advised that the prime contractor is competing to supply an end-user requirement for over 130 systems.
“EOS will work closely with the prime contractor and end users during 2026 and 2027 to support platform integration and trials. There is no guarantee that any follow-on order will be received.”
