Thomas Global Systems has had an exciting opportunity to display the M1A2 Abrams Immersive Tactical Trainer to the US government and industry partners.

In a demonstration, the Abrams Immersive Tactical Trainer (ITT) was showcased and assessed by the US Army Capability Program Executive Simulation, Training, Test & Threat team.

“This activity underscores how scalable, COTS‐based virtual training solutions can accelerate interoperability, readiness and rapid capability delivery across multinational forces,” said Angus Hutchinson, chief executive officer of Thomas Global Systems.

“We’re proud to showcase our synthetic training capability to the United States government and in‐country partners in support of the Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 – the most advanced main battle tank platform in the world.”

The assessment by the US forces, which was completed in conjunction with the Australian Defence Force, seeks to inform future efforts to acquire virtual training systems with allied partners.

The Abrams ITT has already been acquired by the Australian Army as a part of Project LAND 907 and features a range of capabilities that make it a “unified” training system for contemporary armed forces.

Combining a tactical crew, gunnery and driver training into one system presents the Abrams ITT as a critical capability in enabling detailed and realistic training methods while keeping crew safe.

“Our mission is to deliver modern, full‐crew training solutions that go beyond individual system operation and enable crew, platoon and multi‐force training through networked systems,” said chief operating officer Andrew Hutchinson.

“As a prime systems integrator and defence manufacturing partner to allied nations, we remain committed to enabling force readiness through advanced armoured vehicle training simulation; in this case for the Abrams M1A2 SEPv3 platform.”

Thomas Global Systems’ work with the United States follows their milestone opening of an engineering and manufacturing facility in California back in February.

The opening of the facility is a mark of continued efforts by the company to expand US engagement and delivery, to provide "long-term support of aerospace and defence customers".
