Specialist munitions manufacturer Ares Armaments Australia has officially commenced their expansion into the US munitions market with operations reportedly being established in Michigan over the next 12 weeks.

The company manufactures short-range guided weapons and specialist munitions for defence, law enforcement and national security agencies.

The company produces ‘Rooster’ ammunition designed to turn in-service 7.62mm or .50 machinegun small arms munition into a counter UAS rounds by producing shotgun effects on drone targets.

“We have been planning this expansion for the past 18 months and timing couldn’t be more appropriate,” according to a public statement from Ares Armaments Australia.

“We have been asked to support the rapidly growing demand for precision, custom ammunition in the USA.

“This marks a major milestone for our team and company as we build a dedicated U.S. manufacturing capability focused on delivering high-performance, mission-specific ammunition solutions to one of the world’s largest and most demanding markets.

“Demand across defence, law enforcement, and commercial sectors continues to evolve, requiring faster innovation, greater flexibility, and uncompromising precision.

“We are investing directly in the infrastructure, capability, and partnerships required to meet that demand at scale.

“Our expansion into the United States is not simply about growth. It is about building manufacturing capability, strengthening supply chain resilience, and positioning Ares Armaments to support the next generation of precision ammunition requirements globally.

“This is also a strong example of what can be achieved through deeper Australia–United States industrial collaboration; creating advanced manufacturing capability, driving innovation, and strengthening allied defence industry cooperation across both nations.

“Michigan will become a critical foundation for the future of ARES in North America, and this is only the beginning.”
