Thomas Global Systems has announced that its new keyboard unit and enhanced upfront display has finalised qualification testing.

As some of the critical components to the crew station in the AH-64E Apache attack helicopter, the keyboard unit (KU) and enhanced upfront display (EUFD) act as an effective, practical advancement in the operational effectiveness of the aircraft’s system.

“The first production deliveries of our KU and EUFD products showcase Thomas Global’s commitment to delivering modern, mission-ready cockpit technology for the Apache fleet,” said Angus Hutchinson, CEO of Thomas Global Systems.

“We are honoured to play a role in this program, to ensure the Apache remains dominant on the battlefield for decades to come.”

The KU and EUFD are designed to replace the existing equipment in the Apache, featuring “enhanced display clarity, reliability and life cycle sustainment benefits”, the company said.

The systems are easily integrated into the aircraft’s current system, allowing for quick practical application and reduced costs.

Once finalised in the entire testing phase, Thomas Global Systems will begin direct focus on the delivery of KU and EUFD units to Boeing for future aircraft adoption and installation.

The company is supporting both US and Australian governments in acquiring the capability.

There are currently 1,300 Apache aircraft in global operation.
