Australian advanced propulsion manufacturing company Aurora Labs has announced it will be moving forward with plans to scale Australian-made defence propulsion systems and acquire a large-format metal 3D printer.

The company has thanked Australian Government and industry partners for their continued support of advanced manufacturing and defence propulsion technologies.

“With a $1 million Defence Industry Development Grant from the Australian Government, matched by a $1 million co-investment from Aurora Labs, we are taking another major step in scaling Australia's sovereign advanced manufacturing capability,” according to a public statement from Aurora Labs.

“This investment will fund the acquisition of a large-format commercial metal 3D printer, enabling us to scale production of our micro gas turbine propulsion systems for emerging defence applications, including loitering munitions, counter-UAS interceptors, target drones, and other attritable platforms.

“The grant is a strong endorsement of both our technology and our role in supporting Australia's sovereign defence industrial capability. By increasing domestic production capacity and reducing reliance on overseas supply chains, we are positioning Aurora Labs to meet growing demand from Australian and allied defence programs.”
