DroneShield and Defenture have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Eurosatory defence conference in Paris.

DroneShield and Defenture have signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) at the Eurosatory defence conference in Paris.

DroneShield signed with the Netherlands-based tactical mobility-focused company to progress advancements in mobile counter-unmanned aerial system (UAS) capabilities.

The MOU outlined the two companies’ goals to work together towards the future of both of their services, highlighting commercial and customer engagement, testing and joint collaborations on emerging technologies and opportunities.

“Many military customers are looking for scalable and mobile counter-UAS solutions that can be deployed quickly and operate effectively in dynamic environments,” said Louis Gamarra, chief commercial officer at DroneShield.

“DroneShield’s new partnership with Defenture brings together complementary strengths to support that requirement and create a pathway for joint opportunities in key markets.”

The company said that combining counter-UAS systems with Defenture’s existing mobile platforms will enable their solutions to expand into the “layered on-the-move counter-UAS concepts”.

As the current battle landscape continues to change and emerge, Defenture said their expertise in mobile systems will merge effectively with DroneShield’s vision.

“The evolution of modern drone warfare has made clear that traditional platforms now require UAS protection, and partnering with DroneShield allows us to bring that capability to market in a way that is practical, mobile and operationally relevant,” said Defenture board member Roderick Toutenhoofd.

“By combining Defenture’s mobile platform capability with DroneShield’s proven counter-UAS technologies, we are better placed to support customers seeking agile, layered protection against evolving drone threats.”

The MOU comes as DroneShield expands into the European market, announcing earlier this week that their first European-made counter-UAS system was successfully delivered.
