Aurizn has appointed Jim McDowell as the new chair of the company, bringing his extensive experience across the defence and technology sectors.
The new leadership comes as Aurizn continues to expand its reach in the national sovereign capabilities market.
The company said the growth of leadership demonstrates a continued push to support increased national investment into Australian-owned and operated defence and security businesses.
“Australia’s strategic environment is driving increased demand for advanced sovereign technologies that can deliver operational advantage and support faster capability development,” McDowell said.
“Aurizn has built a strong reputation for combining specialist engineering and scientific expertise with Australian-developed software, AI/machine learning and advanced modelling tools, and I look forward to supporting the company as it continues to grow and deliver innovative solutions for defence and national security customers.”
McDowell has a strong background and understanding of Australia’s defence landscape, currently serving as the chair of ASC. He has previously held executive positions at BAE Systems and the Department of Defence.
Aurizn’s chief executive officer, Rebecca Humble, said McDowell’s knowledge and expertise will support the company’s development into their “next phase of expansion”.
“Jim is one of Australia’s most respected defence industry leaders and brings an exceptional understanding of the strategic environment, defence capability priorities and the importance of sovereign innovation,” she said.
