The ACT-based Eggler Institute of Technology has delivered specialist military vehicle technology training for US Army and Australian Defence personnel, strengthening engineering expertise and professional ties supporting the Australia–US defence partnership.
Canberra-based Eggler Institute of Technology has delivered a specialist Military Vehicle Technology training program for personnel from the US Army’s Yuma Proving Ground, alongside representatives from the Australian Defence Force’s Land Engineering Agency (LEA).
The program brought together technical specialists from Australia and the United States to exchange practical expertise and deepen knowledge supporting military vehicle acquisition, engineering, testing and evaluation.
Designed for professionals involved in the development and sustainment of military vehicles, the course examined the engineering principles influencing vehicle design, performance and operational effectiveness.
Training was complemented by visits to the LEA’s Monegeetta Proving Ground and the Royal Australian Armoured Corps Tank Museum at Puckapunyal, providing participants with practical insight into military vehicle testing, development and technological evolution.
Eggler Institute of Technology director Mark Eggler said bringing Australian and US specialists together provided an opportunity to strengthen the engineering expertise underpinning defence capability.
“Military vehicle programs depend on professionals who can apply sound engineering judgement in complex operational and technical environments,” Eggler said.
“Bringing US and Australian technical specialists together allowed participants to share perspectives, build professional relationships and strengthen the engineering knowledge that underpins effective capability acquisition and sustainment.”
The program forms part of the Eggler Institute’s broader focus on specialist technical education and professional development for defence workforces.
The institute provides training to government agencies, defence organisations and industry involved in designing, acquiring, testing, sustaining and operating advanced defence technologies.
Courses are delivered through onsite, live-online, on-demand and tailored programs.
The latest training initiative also highlights the growing importance of specialist engineering expertise as Australia and the United States pursue increasingly sophisticated land capabilities and deeper defence-industrial cooperation.
For the Eggler Institute, the program supports its dual focus on strengthening Australia’s sovereign defence capability while exporting Australian technical expertise and professional education to international partners.
The engagement with Yuma Proving Ground and Defence’s Land Engineering Agency provides another practical avenue for Australian and US technical specialists to share lessons and build the professional networks required to support future military vehicle programs.
