Defence and national security workforce provider WorkSec has completed a comprehensive independent audit to achieve dual international certification to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Information Security Management Systems).

Defence and national security workforce provider WorkSec has completed a comprehensive independent audit to achieve dual international certification to ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management Systems) and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 (Information Security Management Systems).

This milestone significantly strengthens WorkSec’s governance and assurance posture at a pivotal moment for Australia’s sovereign industrial capability.

As prime contractors, critical infrastructure operators, and small-to-medium enterprises navigate heightened compliance mandates under the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and AUKUS initiatives, the demand for verified, forensically audited workforce sponsorship architecture has never been greater.

Achieving certification to both the global quality benchmark (ISO 9001) and the updated information security standard (ISO/IEC 27001:2022) independently validates WorkSec’s operational resilience, data protection controls, and repeatable processes for managing highly sensitive personnel data.

WorkSec Managing Director and Chief Security Officer Stuart Rainsford said the successful audit confirms the maturity of the organisation’s operating systems during a phase of rapid national scale.

“In the defence and national security environment, trust is not an assumption; rather it is a required evidentiary standard that government and industry need to adhere to,” said Mr Rainsford.

“Our clients operate across classified, high-security environments where data integrity and personnel assurance quite simply cannot fail; with the Essential Eight being the minimum standard and multinational clients needing more assurance that data is being securely managed. Achieving both ISO 9001 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 demonstrates that as we scale our operational footprint nationally, our systems maturity and information security architecture keep pace; this dual accreditation gives our partners absolute certainty that our workforce sponsorship models are underpinned by internationally verified quality and risk controls.”

Specialising in personnel security, workforce governance, and security clearance sponsorship, WorkSec acts as a vital bridge for industry, enabling commercial enterprises and technology providers to supply cleared talent into classified defence, intelligence, and national security supply chains.

Stuart Rainsford notes that securing ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification is particularly important the escalating cyber threat landscape and the sensitive identity-management responsibilities inherent in DISP compliance.

“Managing clearance sponsorship and trusted workforce governance requires safeguarding some of the most sensitive personal and corporate information in the country,” said Mr Rainsford.

“Undergoing a rigorous, independent audit to validate our Information Security Management System against the latest 2022 standard proves that our cyber and information handling practices are world-class. When sovereign primes and government agencies partner with WorkSec, they are integrating a supply chain partner whose information governance actively hardens their broader security perimeter.”

For WorkSec Director – Trusted Workforce Matt Kirk, said the certifications represent an essential commercial enabler for Australian businesses seeking to participate in major sovereign programs.

“Speed and compliance are often viewed as opposing forces, but having verified, audited management systems allows us to onboard and sponsor personnel faster without compromising governance,” said Mr Kirk.

“By embedding ISO 9001 quality frameworks into our day-to-day operations, we eliminate administrative bottlenecks for defence contractors who need cleared talent on site immediately. This audit result reinforces WorkSec’s position as a premier, trusted workforce governance partner for Australia’s sovereign industrial base.”
