Two new lightweight imaging systems have been announced for the Australian International Airshow next week.

AVT Australia present two new variants of its CM62 Micro Gimbal camera used for intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance at the exhibition from 27 February to 5 March in Victoria.

The two variants will feature a tri-zoom electro-optical configuration and an extended long-wave infrared configuration, respectively.

The systems are suitable for aerial surveillance and target acquisition, border protection, force protection, law enforcement, search and rescue, emergency response, bushfire and wildlife management missions.

“The CM62 Micro Gimbal is the first payload of its kind that delivers superior EO/LWIR capabilities in a miniature 260g system,” said an AVT Australia spokesperson.

“The CM62 incorporates an innovative onboard video processor to provide high-definition, electro-optical imagery with 25 times zoom, along with a custom long-wave infrared core.

“The new tri-zoom EO configuration has an intermediate lens for enhanced mid-range performance and a longer focal-length narrow lens, resulting in 42 per cent more pixels on target compared to the standard CM62 configuration.

“This makes it perfect for situations when enhanced EO image quality is required for daytime operations.

“The new extended LWIR configuration … (is) perfect for situations where extended stand-off distances are required.”
