Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has appointed a new chief executive officer to replace long-serving CEO and founder Dr Ben Greene.

Electro Optic Systems Holdings Limited (EOS) has announced the appointment of Dr Andreas Schwer as its new chief executive officer, effective from 1 August 2022.

Dr Schwer assumes the role following a recent two-year stint as president of EOS EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), overseeing the company’s expansion strategy across the region.

Throughout his career in the defence, manufacturing, and space industries, Dr Schwer has held a number of senior positions, including roles at Rheinmetall AG, US global equipment manufacturer Manitowoc Company, Airbus Group, and the European Space Agency.

The incoming CEO is also a board member and recently retired non-executive chairman of the ASX listed company Titomic Ltd.

Dr Schwer is set to replace EOS’ founder and long-serving CEO, Dr Ben Greene, who recently announced he would step down following 36 years of service.

The company lauded Dr Greene’s contribution to technological and engineering capabilities, which has included proposing initial designs for remote weapon stations and space domain awareness technologies.

Dr Greene is now expected to the take up the role of head of innovation.

The leadership transition comes as EOS finalises the outcome of its strategic review, with Dr Schwer tasked with helping “reset” the company.

“Dr Schwer’s commercial acumen, experience across the defence and space sectors, and extensive international experience ideally position him to lead the company as we seek to improve our go-to-market capability across Asia, Europe and the US,” Peter Leahy AC, chair of EOS, said.

“The board believes he has the right combination of experience, capabilities and attributes to lead EOS as we prioritise growth in our defence and space businesses.”

Dr Schwer will be based out of the company’s headquarters in Canberra.
