BAE Systems Australia is inviting university students, veterans, and their families who are attending Avalon 2023 to come and learn more about the job opportunities on offer across its business.

BAE Systems Australia is looking to recruit 6,500 people over the next five years and will be kicking off a national recruitment drive at the air show — with key programs across the air, land, sea and space domains providing a range of opportunities for job seekers.
BAE Systems Australia chief people officer Angela Wiggins said, “It’s vital for the future success of our business that we have the right skills to deliver critical capabilities to our customers and that’s why we’re continuing to invest to secure the best talent.”
The company will be hosting two events during the week-long air show to showcase the diverse career opportunities available in the defence industry. On Wednesday, 1 March (at the AMDA Tech Zone), BAE Systems will host an event with Right Management, With You With Me, and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
More than 10 per cent of employees in the company’s Australian workforce have served in the armed forces or continue to serve as Reservists.
Some of them will be on hand to share their experiences and answer questions about their transition from the military into civilian careers.
Database administrator and recent veteran recruit Luke Saxon highlighted the role of supporting veterans transition out of a career in Defence to continuing their service through industry avenues, saying, “The people within my team are great. Joining BAE Systems was the right decision for me. The company provides a sense of purpose and an environment with which to slowly progress into the civilian workforce.”
Meanwhile, on Thursday, 2 March, the company will launch the recruitment for its 2024 graduate program.
There are more than 100 graduate roles available across its national business next year. Current and former BAE Systems graduate employees will take part in an event (also at the AMDA Tech Zone) alongside career advisers, graduate associations, and industry representatives to offer information about the roles on offer and how to apply.
Project Management graduate, Hunter Class Frigate Program Madeline Bubner said, “I love the variety and the depth of the work that I do and how I can contribute to a highly complex and technical project that will span over many years.
“The defence industry is an appealing career path, for long-term career development because of the extensive and unique range of opportunities available across the many different projects,” Bubner added.
