ADF personnel recognised in Australia Day Honours and Awards 2024

More than 20 Australian Defence Force personnel have been recognised for their devotion to duty during natural disasters, strategic innovation, and professional mastery in the Australia Day Honours and Awards for 2024.

More than 20 Australian Defence Force personnel have been recognised for their devotion to duty during natural disasters, strategic innovation, and professional mastery in the Australia Day Honours and Awards for 2024.

The Australia Day Honours List recognised 20 ADF personnel in the Order of Australia’s military division and 58 ADF personnel for distinguished and conspicuous service on 26 January.

Royal Australian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Robert Chipman was listed for his leadership in developing rapid-support plans to identify the equipment Australia could gift to Ukraine and was made an officer in the military division of the Order of Australia.

Defence Secretary Greg Moriarty was made an Officer of the Order of Australia in the general division for his leadership roles in public administration, particularly in national and international security.

Navy personnel Rear Admiral Matthew Paul Buckley and Commodore Peter James Leavy were made members of the military division of the Order of Australia, alongside Army personnel Brigadier David Charles Hafner and Major General Jason Kyle Walk, as well as RAAF personnel Group Captain David John Clyde, Group Captain Dennis Davison, Air Commodore Gretchen Elizabeth Fryar, Air Commodore Anthony John Hindmarsh, and Group Captain Hannah Louise Jude-Smith.

Commander Steven John Bliss, Captain Jacqueline Margaret King, Warrant Officer David John Passmore, Chief Petty Officer Steven David Paterson, Commander Liza Jane Stephenson, Major David Graeme Brown, Warrant Officer Class One Glen Andrew Donaldson, Warrant Officer Class Two Tommy Munyarryun, Sergeant Justin Luke Kurban, and Flight Sergeant Grant William Reibel received medals in the military division of the Order of Australia.

Australian Army Lieutenant Colonel M was announced as a Distinguished Service Medal recipient.
