Boeing’s manufacture of Patriot Advanced Capability-3 seekers reached a record high in 2024, with more than 500 deliveries made over the year.

Early in 2025, the company also set new monthly and 12‑month rolling average production records. The Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) seeker is a vital component in the world’s most advanced interceptors used by the Patriot air defence system.

It plays a key role in identifying, tracking and defeating a range of threats – from hostile aircraft to sophisticated ballistic and cruise missiles.

Boeing plans to further boost seeker production throughout 2025, with additional capacity expansions scheduled in the coming years to support growing global defence and security requirements. The company also anticipates completing construction of its new 35,000‑square foot (3,300‑square‑metre) factory expansion this spring, which will unlock even greater production capability once fully operational.

“We know that service members and civilians alike are increasingly relying on us to deliver this critical component for the world’s best air defence system,” said Jim Bryan, Director of Integrated Air and Missile Defence.

Over recent years, Boeing has invested heavily in ramping up PAC-3 seeker production as part of its strategic plan. Key initiatives include:

  • Expanding and modernising facilities with cutting-edge equipment – from automated inspection systems to robotic soldering equipment.
  • Enhancing manufacturing processes and production controls to achieve greater first‑time quality.
  • Strengthening and diversifying supplier relationships to build a more agile, affordable, resilient and scalable supply chain.

Bryan added, “This capability exemplifies our air and missile defence expertise, and we’re leveraging it to meet major challenges, such as developing America’s next‑generation homeland defence shield and beyond.”

Boeing produces PAC-3 seekers for the US Army and international partner nations as a subcontractor to Lockheed Martin. Seventeen countries worldwide now employ PAC-3 interceptors, most recently including Ukraine, underlining the system’s global reach and importance.
