The Australian Defence Force Reservists were celebrated on Tuesday night at the National Employer Support Awards in Sydney.
Formally recognising the civilian employers of the ADF Reservists, these awards aim to highlight the commitment of employers in supporting employees who are active reservists for the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Chief of Personnel Lieutenant General Natasha Fox thanked all nominees for showing flexibility and understanding in supporting Reservist employees.
“These awards are not only a celebration of the support provided by civilian employers but also an opportunity to continue the recognition of Reserve service.
“It is a chance to inspire more businesses and organisations to employ ADF reservists who can bring capability, skills and leadership to workplaces across the country.
“The commitment these organisations have shown has not gone unnoticed. Your flexibility, understanding and ongoing support to your Reservist employees enables service,” she said.
Each winner previously won their individual state/territory Employer Support Award, prompting their national nomination.
Winners of the National Employer Support Awards are McMahon Holdings (large private sector), Flanders Electric of Australia (medium private sector), Karston Homes (small private sector), Alice Springs Hospital Pharmacy Department (public sector), Defence Science and Technology Group (public sector, defence), and St Andrews Hospital (not for profit).
“Defence is committed to building a workforce with people from a variety of backgrounds that represent the Australian community we serve. We want more Australians to make an impact with a rich and rewarding career in the ADF,” the ADF said in a statement.
