The recipients of the 2026 Prince of Wales Award have been announced to Reservists in the Australian Defence Force who have made strong contributions to the nation while working in their civilian careers.

Recipients of the award are given up to $10,000 to be spent towards training and development that benefit their civilian work.

“This initiative is more than just financial support – it’s a recognition of the adaptability, leadership and dedication that Reservists demonstrate every day, whether in uniform or in the workplace,” said Head of Reserve and Cadet Support Division, Major General Michelle Campbell.

“The Prince of Wales Award reinforces the valuable link between Defence service and civilian employment.

“It’s an investment in their future and a recognition of their outstanding service on both fronts.”

The primary goal of the award is to recognise and acknowledge the multiple contributions Reservists commit to the country through their ADF and career work.

The funding is not only expected to enhance and upskill recipients’ defence knowledge but provide transferable skills for Reservists to take into their everyday workforce.

Defence adds that the Prince of Wales Award further reflects Defence’s dedication to ensuring that the Reservist community is supported in all aspects of their service and employers.

Reserves make up nearly a third of the total Australian Defence Force workforce.
