Defence’s leading scientific research body Defence Science Technology (DST) Group has put the call out for an Australian academic institution to support its upcoming symposium on human biotechnologies.
DST Group is hosting the Emerging and Disruptive Technology Assessment Symposium (EDTAS) on Human Biotechnologies on 3-4 May and is looking for an academic partner for the event.
The upcoming symposium will seek to explore and shape the long-term vision for human biotechnologies and a key outcome will be a Big Picture Assessment Report developed in part through the workshop contributions of all attendees.
The symposium will also provide a number of opportunities including networking, research partnering, an understanding of strategic and S&T challenges and providing guidance to shape long-term defence and national security.
EDTAS is a DST initiative that aims to future-proof Australian Defence through the Next Generation Technologies Fund. Each symposia series brings together internationally recognised academic, industry and Defence leaders in a multi-disciplinary workshop environment to consider an expansive science and technology topic that will likely have a major impact – transformational or disruptive – for the defence or national security domains in the 20+ year timeframe.
Last year's sympsosium focused on information, knowledge and digital disruption and was hosted by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and Noetic.
