Defence and technology leaders from Five Eyes nations have deepened cooperation on digital transformation at the Combined Digital Leadership Summit.

Defence and technology leaders from Five Eyes nations have deepened cooperation on digital transformation at the Combined Digital Leadership Summit.

The meeting focused on building digital standards and accelerating the adoption of emerging technologies to improve interoperability between partner nations.

Held at the Pentagon, it sought to lay the groundwork for closer integration of artificial intelligence, cyber security and data-sharing systems across government and military networks.

“Seeing the digital leadership of all Five Eyes nations gathered in one room, united by a shared mission, has been more than just encouraging to me; it’s been a powerful testament to the enduring strength of our alliance,” said Kirsten Davies, chief information officer of the US Department of War.

“What has made this week truly exceptional is the alignment and commitment to action that’s emerged from all of these discussions.”

Discussions centred on creating reliable digital infrastructure, modernising public-sector systems, and strengthening resilience against cyber threats, with Project Arcadia at the core of these talks.

The project aims to enable Five Eyes partners to create a common operating tool that can be used to share vast amounts of information across militaries and defence systems.

“The strategic imperative that has galvanised our togetherness is Project Arcadia,” Davies said.

“Throughout this week, we’ve solidified our shared understanding that [this] is not merely another [information technology] project; it is the operational imperative of our time.

“It is the digital backbone of our coalition, the very ecosystem that will empower our warfighters with [the] data supremacy and decision dominance they need to win on the battlefields of today and of tomorrow.”

The next digital leadership summit is set to be held in Sydney this November.
