Australia and Japan have accelerated their existing defence partnership through recent collaborative efforts surrounding cyber command, control and communications training.
As a part of the recent visit of Japan’s Director General C4 Systems Department to Australia, Major General Akitsugu Kimura met with the Australian Defence Force cyber officials to discuss strategies, priorities, and interoperable goals as cyber security continues to become a growing facet of defence.
ADF’s head of Cyber Operations and Strategic J6, Major General Warren Gould, said this visit represents the strong success that collaborative efforts with allies in the cyber domain can bring to ensure national security and defence.
As a part of the visit, Major General Kimura was provided with tours and information on Australia's joint cyber operation commands, providing valuable intel on the ways in which Australia is propelling cyber defence.
“Australia and Japan are committed to strengthening our partnership in the cyber domain and C4 integration is critical to ensuring our forces can operate effectively together,” MAJGEN Gould said.
“This is crucial in increasingly complex environments where secure communications and resilient networks are critical to operational success.”
The cyber relationship was founded between the two countries in 2014 with the introduction of the annual Australia-Japan Information and Communications Technology Cooperation Forum.
