Anduril Industries has demonstrated its Battle Manager for the Guam Defense System during Exercise Valiant Shield 2026, bringing together US Army, Air Force, Navy and Missile Defense Agency capabilities in an operationally relevant environment.
The demonstration occurred less than six months after Anduril was awarded the development contract, highlighting the company’s focus on rapidly delivering software-defined defence capabilities.
Powered by Anduril’s Lattice platform, the Battle Manager is designed to provide commanders with a unified, real-time picture of air and missile-defence operations.
The system can integrate information from multiple joint defence assets, providing visibility of weapons status, interceptor inventories and available engagement options through a single command-and-control interface.
A key feature demonstrated during Valiant Shield was the system’s ability to generate autonomous recommendations for weapon engagements, potentially allowing operators to respond more rapidly to complex and simultaneous threats.
Rather than replacing human decision makers, the Battle Manager is intended to provide software-enabled decision support by rapidly processing information across disparate systems and presenting commanders with recommended courses of action.
The demonstration is particularly significant for Guam, which is emerging as a critical node in US military operations across the Indo-Pacific and is expected to require increasingly integrated air and missile defences.
The exercise provided an opportunity to test the Battle Manager alongside the wider joint force and assess how software can connect otherwise separate sensors, weapons and command systems.
Anduril’s approach reflects a broader shift towards software-defined military architectures in which command-and-control systems can integrate capabilities from multiple manufacturers rather than relying on individual weapon systems operating in isolation.
The company has previously demonstrated geographically distributed Lattice command-and-control capabilities during Valiant Shield, highlighting its focus on maintaining a common operational picture across dispersed forces.
The latest demonstration also comes as the US military seeks to rapidly develop more resilient and integrated defences across the Indo-Pacific, where geographically dispersed forces and the threat of long-range missiles place increasing demands on command-and-control networks.
For Anduril, the Valiant Shield demonstration provides a significant validation of Lattice’s potential as the software layer connecting sensors, interceptors and commanders across a distributed air and missile-defence architecture.
The company said the demonstration represents the first capability of its kind delivered to the US Department of War, underscoring the speed at which its software-centric approach is being transitioned from development into operational testing.
