Boeing Defence Australia’s managing director Darren Edwards said the company was proud to support Mission Australia in the work they do to assist Australian families in need.

"At multiple sites across Australia, Boeing employees have proudly supported the campaign by donating money as well as their own time to fill the backpacks," said Edwards.

"This year’s campaign has been incredibly successful and demonstrates the commitment of our people to giving children experiencing extreme hardship the best chance at an education."

Boeing worked with the Indigenous Defence Consortium to source and supply the backpacks and their contents.

Boeing presented backpacks to Mission Australia program manager Jenny Chaves at a morning tea at the start of Term 1 at Carole Park State School in Brisbane.

"For the fourth year running, Boeing has done an outstanding job raising money to purchase backpacks and shoe vouchers," Chaves said.

“Mission Australia is looking forward to distributing the backpacks to school-aged children who are doing it tough. Every child deserves a quality education and the backpacks are a great way to support disadvantaged students as they start the school year. The campaign supports our vision to create a community that values its children."

Children accessing Mission Australia’s services will receive the backpacks over the coming weeks.
