Canberra cyber businesses QuintessenceLabs and deception.ai have partnered to take their locally created products to the biggest cyber conference, RSA, in San Francisco.
The partnership will see deception.ai's decoy technology apply QuintessenceLabs' quantum technologies to create a sophisticated and secure solution to protect global customers from cyber attack.
The announcement was made by Robyn Hendry, CEO of the Canberra Business Chamber, at the Australian Cyber Security Centre (ACSC) Conference.
"The partnership between these two companies, and events such as the ACSC, highlights the strength of Canberra as a hub to conduct cyber security business," said Hendry.
"It is exciting to see these two businesses working together and demonstrating their world leading innovations at one of the biggest global cyber events."
ACT Chief Minister Andrew Barr welcomed the announcement, noting such partnerships between local companies enhance Canberra's efforts to become a cyber business hotspot.
"Canberra’s growing tertiary education industry, as well as our proximity to the federal government, provides great opportunities for companies like QuintessenceLabs and Penten to grow," said Chief Minister Barr.
The partnership had its conception via AustCyber, the Australian Cyber Security Growth Network, and nurtured through ACT government initiatives to support innovation and collaboration by cyber security SMEs in the region.
"We are excited to announce a partnership with QuintessenceLabs to push the edges of innovation in cyber security," said Ben Whitham, CEO of deception.ai. "Our partnership with QuintessenceLabs enables us to address a significant scientific challenge in this field."
QuintessenceLabs, which was last year awarded a $3.26 million investment from the Australian Department of Defence to continue the expansion of its quantum key distribution (QKD) capabilities and extend it to free space communications, said the partnership with deception.ai will help the businesses create solutions to major cyber security issues.
