Indo Defence 2018, which will be held concurrently with the fifth Indo Marine 2018 Expo and Forum, is Indonesia's top tri-service defence industry event.  

The event is four days, providing an extensive experience and exposure to sectors beyond just the defence industry. Indonesia's National Police, their Coast Guard, Search and Rescue Agency and Maritime Security Agency will all take part in the event as well.

"Team Defence Australia’s strong attendance at this year’s event, the largest ever, demonstrates the growing international presence of Australia’s defence industry," Minister Ciobo said.

The Indo Defence 2018 event will showcase leading-edge capabilities in sophisticated weapons systems and technologies, hardware and electronic warfare, training, simulation systems, defence and security peripherals.

Held every two years, the exhibition brings together around 850 exhibitors from over 40 countries, offering capabilities and innovation for the defence and security sector.

Following his time in Indonesia, Minister Ciobo will travel to Singapore to further strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries, following a number of recent announcements made by Assistant Minister for Defence David Fawcett.

Recently, Senator Fawcett highlighted the growing role of the Australia-Singapore Military Training Initiative (ASMTI) in the development of Queensland and the strong defence and security relationship between the two countries. 

Senator Fawcett also recently met with the Singapore high commissioner Kwok Fook Seng to discuss the the progress made in the Australia-Singapore defence relationship in recent years, including the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

"High commissioner Kwok and I discussed the significant progress of the Australia‑Singapore Military Training Initiative, which provides enhanced training access for Singaporean Armed Forces in central and north Queensland," Senator Fawcett said at the time. 

Minister Ciobo has reinforced the comments, saying, "This week I will also visit Singapore to pursue deeper bilateral defence industry co-operation through industry and senior government engagements.

"Innovation is a central element of Australia’s defence industry policy and Singaporean and Australian defence industries have a strong history of co-operation in this area.

"Greater collaboration will strengthen our respective defence industries to achieve export success. Building a stronger, more sustainable and more globally competitive Australian defence industry supports Australian defence capability needs."
