The Australian Army Museum of WA hosted its third Sunset Military Spectacular over the weekend. The experience combined one of the state’s most historic military barracks and provided the public with a rare glimpse into the militarys ceremonial activities.

Performers and Command representatives from the Australian Army Museum of Western Australia, the Australian Army Band (Perth), the Royal Australian Navy Band (WA) and 51 ACU Drums and Pipes combined to put on a spectacular concert in the heart of the historic Fremantle area on Sunday, 8 March 2020.

They were joined at Artillery Barracks by the Royal Australian Navy Ceremonial Guard, who carried out the traditional sunset lowering of the Australian National Flag and Australian White Ensign. The event built on previous iterations, which have included RAAF flyovers, as well as the appearance of the Bushmaster and the M113 armoured personnel vehicles.

The event took place at the heritage-listed Artillery Barracks (formerly known as Victoria Barracks). Since 1977, the facility has also housed the Army Museum of WA - which boasts, among other objects on display, three Victoria Crosses. The free-entry museum also houses a number of relics from World War I and II, including service weapons deployed during these wars.
