EOS backs 3ME Technology for C4 EDGE program

Mining innovation company 3ME Technology has secured its inaugural defence contract, after being invited to participate in EOS Defence Systems C4 EDGE program.

Mining innovation company 3ME Technology has secured its inaugural defence contract, after being invited to participate in EOS Defence Systems C4 EDGE program.

3ME Technology, a NSW-based mining innovation company, has secured its first public defence contract with C4 EDGE — a defence industry co-operative led by EOS Defence Systems, which is scoping the demonstration of a sovereign land battlegroup and below communications environment for the Australian Army.

Steven Lawn, an Army veteran and 3ME Technology’s chief business development officer, said he’s looking forward to leveraging the firm’s experience in the mining sector to bolster defence capability.

“The rugged, modular and energy-dense system developed for the underground mining industry has enabled the concept of an interoperable energy unit for the battlefield to be conceived,” he said.

“We look forward to demonstrating this technology under the C4 EDGE program”

Grant Sanderson, CEO of EOS Defence Systems, welcomed the firm to the C4 EDGE co-operative, and lauded 3ME’s offering.

“3ME Technology were an obvious choice for the program due to their strong mix of both military operational experience and power solutions expertise, with a focus on safety and state-of-the-art technology,” Sanderson said.

3ME is the latest of a number of SMEs to join C4 EDGE, which include GME, 1LM, Insitec, Kord Defence, Outlander Solutions, Penten, SkyKraft and XTEC.

The C4 EDGE program is scheduled to deliver a proof of concept demonstration by the end of 2021, designed to display the capability of Australian industry to further develop a “protected, integrated and supportable sovereign system”, which provides “agile and resilient” C2 functionality to meet the needs of a battlegroup operating independently or with partners.

3ME Technology was established as an Australian Veteran Owned Business, with CEO and part owner Justin Bain previously serving as an Army Signals Officer.

The firm's leadership team also holds experience in defence industry, with 3ME’s chief technology officer Steven Howell previously serving as a hardware engineer for Thales Underwater Systems.
