Lieutenant Colonel joins Kleos Space

A Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army has been appointed to an advisory position for the ASX-listed space company.

A Lieutenant Colonel from the US Army has been appointed to an advisory position for the ASX-listed space company.

Data-as-a-service (DaaS) company Kleos Space has announced the appointment of Lieutenant Colonel Mario Zaltzman as adviser for a 12-week internship, through the US Department of Defense’s (DOD) SkillBridge program.

The DOD SkillBridge program aims to provide civilian work opportunities for service members through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships.

Zaltzman welcomed the opportunity to provide advisory services to Kleos Space via the DOD initiative.

“The DOD program is a great opportunity to gain awareness of the private sector and experience new technology areas. It also allows for a mutual exchange of skillsets,” he said.

“On one hand, Kleos is giving me great insights on the specific markets and technology they are developing; and on the other hand, I contribute to the business with my 12 years of army and on-the-ground experience.

“This is a great combination and being part of an advanced startup like Kleos is both interesting and challenging.”

Prior to joining the military as a member of the Army Reserve Active Guard and Reserve (AGR) program as an acquisition corps officer, Zaltzman served in the private sector as a process engineer, product manager, regional business unit manager, national accounts manager, director of commercial operations and director of integration projects.

Zaltzman's military service culminated in his appointment as product manager for the One World Terrain program.

He is also a member of the Army Acquisition Corps with a Level III Certification in Program Management and a Level II Certification in Information Technology..

“Having Mario advising us is a great added value and opportunity for Kleos,” Kleos chief revenue officer Eric von Eckartsberg commented.

“We are developing a new capability that can serve the needs of a diverse set of government customers, and Mario’s insights into customer missions and requirements will help us understand how to tailor those products towards those needs.

“We look forward to working with Mario over the course of this program.”
