Serco Australia has celebrated 10 years of supporting ADF operations in the Middle East as part of the Middle East Logistics and Base Support Services (MELABS) contract, providing the ADF with base and logistical support.
The celebration was attended by a number of personnel from both Serco and the Australian Defence force, among them Air Commodore David Paddison, CSC Commander JTF 633, who addressed the representatives from Serco.
AIRCDRE Paddison recognised the long-standing partnership between Serco and the ADF, acknowledging Serco’s support to the ADF’s operation in the Middle East, where he presented the company with a plaque.
Andy Maclean, MELABS contract director, welcomed the occasion and outlined that the company looks forward to continue providing services to the ADF.
“As we celebrate the success of the last 10 years, we look to the future and sincerely hope to continue as a trusted partner to the ADF for many years to come, anywhere in the world where the ADF require us to support their operations, training and capability support activities,” Maclean said.
“Serco’s global reach brings best practice from around the world to enhance local operations and deliver effective solutions for our customers.”
Shannon Fleming, MELABS contract general manager, outlined that Serco was proud to have supported the ADF over the last decade.
“I am also incredibly proud of our highly capable and professional workforce who are committed to delivering exceptional service every day,” Fleming said.
Serco provides facility management, support services and logistics to the ADF, to which Serco recently launched a business line to improve the company’s offerings. The facilities management business unit is expected to enhance the company’s capabilities in the sector.
The decade-long engagement with the ADF comes as Serco Australia announced its collaboration with KBR to deliver administrative support to the Royal Australian Navy at the School of Navigation Warfare at Sydney’s HMAS Watson.
Serco Australia and KBR created three administrative positions to alleviative the burden on RAN instructing staff to allow them to focus on training Maritime Warfare Officers.
“It’s an excellent example of defence and industry working together to achieve positive outcomes for our trainees,” Lieutenant Commander Sam Fraser, Officer in Charge of the School of Navigation Warfare, said.
