The defence contractor has agreed to support the institute’s efforts to bolster cross-industry collaboration.
Babcock Australasia has joined the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) Australia as an inaugural executive network member, and has assumed a position on the organisation’s advisory board.
The firm will be tasked with supporting the delivery of complex programs and solutions by promoting transparency, mutual support and shared benefits.
This is an extension of Babcock International Group’s founding membership of the global ICW, and is expected to combine Babcock’s corporate experience of collaboration across its value-chain.
Brett Ackroyd, managing director of ICW Australia, welcomed Babcock Australasia’s membership.
“Together, we will work to achieve our core vision of being the home of collaboration, where good practice is shared and supported with research, experience and training, and building a global community which recognises the development of skills and knowledge of collaborative working practices,” he said.
“Through our community, we will enhance the professional relationships of business, the public sector and wider society to produce greater value in the outcomes for all.”
David Ruff, CEO of Babcock Australasia, added, “Collaboration is one of Babcock’s core values and it is the foundation of how we connect with our customers, industrial partners and wider stakeholders to deliver outcomes.
“We are proud to help keep our nation secure, our communities safe and the country moving.”
This announcement comes just weeks after Babcock Australasia committed to supporting the recently announced AUKUS deal between Australia, the UK, and the US.
The firm said it would leverage its international industry experience in the nuclear space to contribute to the delivery of the Royal Australian Navy’s future fleet of nuclear-powered submarines.
Babcock supports the sustainment of the UK’s submarine fleet, helping deliver through-life support and life extension of the Vanguard, Trafalgar and Astute Class vessels.
The company also manages and operates two of the UK’s three Naval Bases — HMNB Clyde and HMNB Devonport.
The firm has also provided through-life support to the RAN’s six Collins Class submarine vessels.
