Red Hat joins WorkPath Australia program

The technology company has committed to upskilling the veteran community via a new training partnership.

The technology company has committed to upskilling the veteran community via a new training partnership.

Recruitment services provider Vertical Scope Group has named Red Hat as the latest member of its WorkPath Australia program – a training and employment program, set up to support Australian Defence Force veterans for up to 24 months after their discharge to identify potential civilian career opportunities.

Red Hat, a provider of enterprise open-source solutions, has committed to offering ICT employment pathways by facilitating security-clearances.

This is expected to involve the provision of free technical training to selected candidates, tailored for specific job requirements.

“We have many customers within the government sector in Australia and are often requested to provide consultants with security clearances, which these veterans already possess,” Max McLaren, regional vice-president and general manager for A/NZ at Red Hat said.

“Also, with the unique environments of some of these jobs, we have found that ex-military staff are often a good fit as they are already familiar with working in such environments and have a general understanding and passion about our customers' work.”

Vertical Scope Group CEO David Jam said Red Hat’s offering aligns with WorkPath’s aim of equipping veterans with the skills required for the future workforce.

“The collaboration with Red Hat is a synergistic relationship which will continue to facilitate the ongoing upskilling of veterans and make a tangible difference to the lives of the men and women who have served our country,” Jam said.

“Red Hat has been extremely generous in their support of this program.

“We sincerely appreciate the energy and passion their team has shown for WorkPath Australia and our veteran community.”
