NSW defence industry gears up for international showcase

A host of defence and aerospace firms from across NSW are set to put their capabilities on show at an international maritime exhibition.

A host of defence and aerospace firms from across NSW are set to put their capabilities on show at an international maritime exhibition.

INDO PACIFIC 2022 International Maritime Exposition (Indo Pac) is set to host NSW defence and aerospace industry stakeholders next week at the International Convention Centre Sydney from 10 to 12 May.

The businesses, 38 of which will be supported by Defence NSW with floor space, are expected to showcase their products, skills and innovative ideas to representatives from up to 40 nations.

According to Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade Stuart Ayres, the expo – sponsored by the NSW government – would provide local firms with opportunities to expand their domestic and global footprint.

“The defence and aerospace industry provides excellent employment opportunities, and the NSW government is committed to supporting the sector as a priority for the state,” the minister said.

Romain Pare, head of marketing at navigation and robotics technology company Advanced Navigation, noted the importance of showcasing local capability to senior international stakeholders.

“This is an excellent opportunity to showcase our capabilities to decision-makers across government, industry and scientific delegations,” Pare said.

“We look forward to connecting with individuals across every sector.”

The NSW government is also set to host subject matter experts, supporting defence industry across skills and workforce, regions and precincts and innovation ecosystems.

INDO PACIFIC 2022 will be the 12th iteration of the international exhibition, which seeks to foster cross-industry collaboration, and enable commercial maritime and naval defence suppliers to promote their capabilities to decision-makers.

Participants include:

  • defence and civil decision-makers;
  • tier 1 and tier 2 suppliers;
  • SMEs;
  • prime contractors; and
  • universities and research organisations.
